Amankila, East Bali
Amankila’s defining feature are the three infinity pools set facing the sea towards the island of Lombok and the steep peak of Mount Rinjani, and will be one of your first sights when you arrive. The hotel is centred around the pools with the extensive library, and two exquisite restaurants overlooking it. Yet it never feels full, or busy. At full capacity Real Holidays only saw 6-8 people around it at one time. It could be that a large amount of the rooms have private pools, or that down a steep windy path (and back up in a golf buggy) there is a private beach and yet another pool. Although from reclining on the Aman XVI or trying a out a dive, gently cycling and trekking through the hills that surround the Amankila or being taught Balianese cooking with a modern twist by the chef, there is a huge amount to do at the Amankila and in the surrounding areas.
Although, I defy you not to get captivated by those pools….
