Anjodi (Canal du Midi) South West France
A refurbished 8-passenger hotel barge, of classic Dutch design was rebuilt to especially negotiate the Canal du Midi running through South West France. This is the perfect trip those interested in past times as the region is rich with history. It will be also of interest for foodies, as she carried Rick Stein on his culinary exploration for his French Odyssey BBC TV series.
Your trip begins with a welcome glass of champagne, on board at the lakeside fishing village of Marseillan. Over the next week you’ll visit the village of Pezenas, a pretty village best known for its links with playwright Moliere, you’ll cruise past flamingos in the nature reserve of Bagnas, try wine tastings in 14th Century Chateau de Perdiguier, enjoy an excursion and take in the views at Minervois with its 12th Century Cathar Fort and steep limestone gorges, visit Narbonne and take time to shop in this bustling market town and the day to explore the medieval city of Carcassonne.
