Esplanade Hotel, Freemantle
The Esplanade Hotel in Freemantle is smack bang in the middle of where you want to be. Set south, in one of Perth’s finest suburbs, you are only a short walk across the green to Little Creatures. A large brewery decked out in stainless steel contraptions, with big communal tables to eat their delicious food around, and the beer brewed on the premises. A must see. The port and fishing harbour is only a short walk from here, where you can sit down at a number of unassuming restaurants, order simply cooked fresh fish and be astounded at the quality. The cappuccino strip is a short walk towards town, and on a sunny (which is always) weekend afternoon, it’s a street that wouldn’t be out of place in a European city, full of people enjoying lunches and coffee. The city is a short drive or tram ride away, which makes Kings Park and other fashionable suburbs such as Subiaco and Cottesloe within easy reach.
The Esplanade Hotel itself is a large luxury hotel, with 311 rooms with even the standard rooms being spacious and well appointed. There are a number of restaurants to enjoy, and even serve high tea and have live music on the Promenade.
