Luang Say Cruise
The Luang Say Cruise offers a unique and enchanting way to experience the tranquil rhythms of the Mekong and rustic sights of Laos. Upon reaching the Laos border of Houey Xay, your guide will be there to greet you and escort you to your slow boat. The purpose built 34m Mekong river barges are well appointed and the perfect way to see this unique and fascinating region and understand a bit more about life on this legendary river.
On the first day you cruise for around 7 hours downstream to your overnight stop in the town of Pakbeng. En route a stop is made to visit and admire the authentic rural life of hill tribe settlements before enjoying a delicious buffet lunch onboard the boat.
You will overnight at the riverside Luang Say Lodge, hopefully arriving in time for a sunset drink viewing the dramatic scenery from your balcony.
For early risers, there is an opportunity to visit the morning market where the nearby villagers and hill tribes come to buy and exchange their goods before continuing through jungle, mountains, teak plantations and farmland winding ever closer to your destination in Luang Prabang.
