Masion Souvannaphoum, Luang Prabang
The Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel in Luang Prabang is an enchanting sanctuary of old world charm. Once the private home of Prince Souvannaphouma, this royal residence has now been restored into a hotel that combines historical splendour with contemporary style. A stay at the Maison offers a luxurious experience that befits even the royalties.
The 24 rooms and suites are divided across the La Residence and Garden Wing. Abundant space, elegant finishing and original parquet floors mark the suites in the La Residence wing, with the largest and most opulent being the Maison Suite, the former bedroom of the prince. The Garden Wing rooms are smaller and feature a hip decor that evokes the bygone era. The exquisite interior have a mix of French colonial and modern furnishings in a sophisticated palette, as evident from the high ceilings, creamy colours and lush velvet draperies in hues of red. The spacious balconies fitted with comfortable wicker chairs provide ample space for guests to relax amidst views of the pool or surrounding greenery.
Situated in the centre of historic Luang Prabang in a quiet, leafy setting the masion is within walking distance to the main sites and easily accessible. Not to be missed is the Elephant Blanc restaurant, a highlight in Luang Prabang’s emerging culinary scene.
