Napo Wildlife Centre, Amazon

Napo Wildlife Centre is located by the Anangu Lake on the south side of the River Napo.

It is set within its own 82 square mile reserve area within the Yasuni National Park and was created and built by the Anangu community. Local people are being trained to assist in, and will eventually take over, the running of the lodge. This is an ecotourism project which includes the conservation of the most prestine Amazon Rain Forest.

The main buildings of the lodge include a dining hall with a library and a bar with a fifty foot viewing tower attached with views across the river.

Accommodation is in 12 spacious cabanaas all with a kingsize and a single bed, private bathroom with shower and hot water, ceiling fans and private porches with lake views and hammocks. Electricity is provided by a hybrid power system and solar panels.

All activities take place in small groups led by knowledgeable local guides who also work as Yasuni park rangers, and a bilingual naturalist. Typical activities during a stay here include guided hikes on trails, dugout canoe rides, clay lick visits and a 36 metre canopy tower. There are unrivalled nature attractions and biodiversity at the Napo Wildlife Centre and the wildlife you may see include 2 unique easy access parrot & macaw clay licks, 565 bird species, 11 species of monkeys, giant otter family and other large mammals such as Brazilian tapir, White-lipped peccary, all species of cayman including, Black cayman, Anaconda and many others.
