Ramathra Fort, Rajasthan

The origins of Ramathra Fort date back to the 17th Century and is the ancestral home of Ravi and Gitanjali who restored the building into the fabulous property it now is. There are 6 spacious Rajasthani tents located on the fort's ramparts each affording stunning views of Kalisil Lake and the Daang Plateau. The tents are all wonderfully decorated and incredibly comfortable - hot water bottles are provided for the colder months, and each tent has a permanent bathrooms attached with hot and cold running water. There are plenty of exciting activities to do from the fort, including kayaking on the lake whilst keeping an eye out for the resident crocs! Jeep safaris from Ramathra Fort take you across the Daang through its badlands to several spectacular places that are best explored on foot. Destinations include Utgir Fort at the rim of the Chambal River valley, cave temples of Ghanteshvar and Kurka, and the Chuaki gorge. With all the jeep safaris you'll meet villagers and see their homes as they tend small plots in the fertile valley or herd cattle on the Daang scrub. At the days end a bonfire is built and delicious food is served under the stars.
