The Thorntree Country House
The Thorntree Country House original building dates back to the 19th century and the homestead and outbuildings are constructed in typical Klein Karoo architectural style, now gracefully restored into a warm and welcoming Country House with modern conveniences, while the main lounge and dining area still feature the original poplar wood and bamboo ceilings. The signature of this country house is the genuine Klein Karoo hospitality and cuisine as well the rolling tranquil garden with two swimming pools and all-encompassing views of the Schoemanshoek Valley. With 16 luxury rooms, spaced over a large area with garden inbetween, it gives a private and intimate feel to guests.
The nearest town is Oudtshoorn which is the Ostrich capital of the world. We recommend you take the time to visit one of the many Ostrich farms in the area, the 20 million year old Cango Caves system which are really quite amazing and the Cango Wildlife ranch to make this a worthwhile stop for the whole family.
