Holidays with teenagers
Nothing quite fits with teenagers, so allow us to design a travelling holiday to an exciting destination, based around what will keep them most absorbed. Tried and tested by the directors family!
While most of the holidays above may appeal to families with teenagers, we all know that we are into some tricky territory here when predicting what may keep two or more hormonally unbalanced young people from ruining your holiday (and theirs).
The answer is often to find the right balance between a more adventurous holiday than you might normally choose and lazing around a hotel pool after that unbelievable lie-in which only a growing teenager is capable of. We've tried to provide that balance with our Family Holiday to Sri Lanka where we've built in a five day family adventure to hang loose at the beach after all that "culture".
Often it's their imagined worlds that determine the destination, and whether it's an overdose of "The OC", or just those images of California that we all familiar with, I don't know, but we've tailor-made too many successful family holidays to California and the western States not to feel confident in recommending them to more of you wondering just how to cope with this year's excess of teen spirit.
Alternatively, how about combining some wildlife and relaxation with a family adventure trip to Borneo which will include seeing the orang utans and a few days on Lankayan Island.
One popular option for those active teens would be to go to the Canadian Rockies. You can keep the teens busy by trekking, canoeing, rafting, cycling and even a train ride though the mountains.
In addition, if you are interesting in any of our Wildlife or Adventure Trips then for most of them we can certainly tailor make a trip for you using hotels and excursions that are perfect for you and your family.
However, if time is of the essence and you can only spare a week, we have found the Deniz Feneri Lighthouse near Kas on the Lycian coast of Turkey to be the perfect solution. With just 27 rooms, this intimate hotel, set in tranquil and spacious gardens on the waterfront offers a perfect getaway for parents and teens alike.
