South India follows a much gentler pace of life than the north and nowhere emphasises this more than the state of Kerala - perhaps the most popular of destinations in this region. However you should also consider interesting extensions to the neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka which have an array of temples and palaces to give you a blend of culture and natural beauty.
A vast area covering the states of Madhya Pradesh and Orissa and the vibrant city of Mumbai. Perfect for those wanting to get off the beaten track this region is home to some of India's finest tiger sancturaries, the temple towns of Orchha and Khajuraho and the UNESCO World Heritage sites of the Allora and Ajanta caves.
The Himalayan range covers the entire northern part of India, nestling five major states of the country within it. Whether its the rugged landscape of Ladakh or the rolling hills and tea gardens surrouding Darjeeling there is sure to be something to attract those that strive for a mountain experience.
Just across the Palk Strait from India lies Sri Lanka. From palm fringed beaches to cool green hills, that are dotted with tea and spice plantations, the Emerald Isle, as it is often called, offers something for everyone and best of all is that you can see most of it in a two week trip.
