A number of cross country itineraries are available, travelling from Mumbai to Delhi through Gujarat to the deserts of Rajasthan and tiger country of Ranthambore. The unique 6 night Classical India package can take you to hard to reach areas in a timeframe and level of comfort which would previously be unthinkable. The programme is as follows:
Day 1 – Board the train in Delhi and travel to Agra to visit the Fort and take high tea atop the Taj Khema. Sip champagne at sunset at the unparalleled Taj Mahal.
Day 2 – After a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal, enjoy a leisurely breakfast as youjourney through the Chambal Ravines to the royal city of Gwalior, home of the magnificent Gwalior Fort and enjoy a tour of the city.
Day 3 – Continue through dramatic scenery and stop at the bejewelled town of Orchha before reaching the temple city of Khajuraho. Visit the renowned temples and witness the sensual engravings which celebrate beauty, love and creative arts.
Day 4 – This morning you arrive in Umaria and visit Bandhavgarh National Park, the former hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Rewa and with the highest known density of tigers. You will enjoy a village tour and then a jeep safari into the park to explore the flora and fauna and if you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of a tiger.
Day 5 – The holy city of Varanasi is your next stop, a place of pilgrimage set on the banks of the River Ganges. Explore the ghats and take a cruise down the river before witnessing the evening aarti fire ceremony.
Day 6 – Lucknow is your next stop where you will explore the dramatic ruins of The Residency, and learn the history of the mutiny against the British of 1857. Experience the mystical elegance of the Nawabs of Adwah and enjoy an evening ‘Indian Evening’ featuring music and dance.
Day 7 – Arrive in Delhi in the morning and disembark after breakfast.
