La Locanda delle Donne Monache

Located in the village of Maratea, La Locanda delle Donne Monache is a stunning hotel with amazing views over the village and to the surrounding hills.

It was formerly a monastery and the home to the Visitandine order of nuns and it has now been turned into a charming and intimate hotel with just 27 bright rooms and suites, all decorated in a modern style with antique Moroccan furniture. The owner has collected various art works from all over the world which are displayed throughout the hotel.

La Locanda has a lovely pool with great views overlooking the rooftops of the village below, and a fine restaurant called Il Sacello which specialises in traditional regional flavours of both Basilicata and Campania regions.

The centre of Maratea, with a few restaurants, shops and bars, is less than a five minute walk and there are several more restaurants at the port of Maratea, a short drive away. The hotel can arrange a free shuttle to the beach or car hire if you would like to explore more of the stunning Basilicatan countryside and coastline.

All the rooms are en suite and some have lovely views over the village; they are divided into 4 categories, classic, superior, deluxe and suite. The classic rooms have one French double bed while the other rooms are larger and vary in size and view. All the suites are able to take an extra bed which makes them ideal for families.
