Porto Pirgos
The Porto Pirgos Hotel is situated on the Calabrian coast, 5km from Tropea, the prettiest and most fashionable town in the area, but still surprisingly unspoilt.
The Porto Pirgos consists of the main hotel and 3 dependencies, all of which are set in several acres of parkland with olive and eucalyptus trees.
The hotel has 18 luxurious rooms in very attractively restored old stone buildings with a central tower containing 2 of the best rooms, with wonderful views of the coast below. Each room is individually furnished with antique furniture, terracotta tiled or wooden floors and lovely bathrooms (all with showers). All rooms have partial sea view, with the superior rooms, which are larger, having a full sea view.
The dependencies all have two bedrooms, a living room, terrace, 2 bathrooms and ceiling fan, and clients staying here are able to take advantage of all the hotel facilities.
The hotel has its own private beach and two beautiful, large swimming pools, each with a small bar, one immediately in front of the hotel and the other beside the beach.
There is also a tennis court, a bowling green, and a small beauty centre where the resident beautician offers various treatments in high season. A shuttle bus is available to take you from the main hotel to the beach, where there are sunbeds and parasols, and non motorised water sports can be arranged.
Please note that during the high season, music can sometimes be heard from a neighbouring property.
The food, which is excellent, is served outside on a colonnaded terrace, or on cooler nights, in the attractive dining room, with its mosaic floor.
