Casa del Conte
Casa del Conte is a beautiful property which lies by itself on a hill about ten kilometres from Todi with wonderful views of the hilltop town and the Tiber Valley below.
The property dates back to the 15th century and the remains of a medieval tower form the backdrop to the swimming pool. The house itself is an 17th century farmhouse restored by an Italian aristocrat and his American wife to provide an elegant, luxurious and beautifully furnished home, with spacious living areas, comfortable and attractive bedrooms and lovely outside seating areas in the midst of fantastic gardens, part of a 66 acre estate with olive groves, fruit orchards and wheat fields.
The house sleeps up to 10, with 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. It has wooden beamed ceilings and terracotta tiled floors throughout, and is furnished with wonderful antique furniture and artworks. It sleeps 8-10, with 5 bedrooms and four bathrooms. On the ground floor there is a huge sitting room with fireplace, furnished with sofas and antique chairs and a dining room also with fireplace, seating 10, with a separate sitting area with TV. The sitting room opens onto a wisteria covered loggia with comfortable outside furniture. The kitchen itself is large and extremely well equipped, with gas hob and oven, 2 fridges, a freezer, microwave and dishwasher. French windows lead from the kitchen to a courtyard where there is an outside dining table, also seating 10, and an outside grill and oven. In addition there is a utility room with washing machine and dryer, and a separate WC. Also on the ground floor is one of the bedrooms, a comfortable double room with en suite bathroom.
Upstairs there is a library with a further sitting area, and the other bedrooms lead off from here. The master bedroom is large and light, with a fireplace, a canopied kingsize bed and French windows leading to a private loggia where you can enjoy the lovely views. There is also a bedroom with large twin four poster beds and an en suite bathroom. Finally there is another double room and a twin, the last furnished as a children’s bedroom. These two rooms share a bathroom.
There is high speed internet access, satellite TV and maid service every week day. A cook can also be provided for an extra cost
The swimming pool is situated in a secluded position by the ruined tower. You may like to spend your days here under the shade of the huge oak tree and in view of the small chapel, or playing bocce on the specially designed court, strolling in the gardens or just enjoying the view.
Casa del Conte is an exceptional property and a bare description cannot do it justice. It will be hard to tear yourself away from it, but Assisi, Gubbio, Perugia, Spoleto and Orvieto are all within easy reach.
