Casale de Lanci is the latest labour of love for Louise and Eugenio Grippo, the owners of Borgo Il Poeta.

This magnificent villa, which sleeps up to 10 guests, is set in 70 acres of forested land and its hilltop position gives it the most wonderful views over the northern Umbrian countryside. The local towns are full of art treasures such as La Madonna del Parto, by Piero della Francesca. Lake Trasimeno, Assisi and Perugia are all a short drive away.
Casale de Lanci has been renovated to an exceptionally high standard. The thick stone walls keep the house cool in summer, and much of the attractive furniture comes from the local town of Citta di Castello, which is renowned throughout Italy for its craftsmanship. Downstairs in the kitchen, dining room and living room, the floors are made from terracotta stone tiles, while upstairs the bedroom floors are of beautiful polished wood.
All the living areas are very spacious. The large kitchen is fully equipped, and there is a separate larder with fully stocked wine racks and a selection of home produced oil, vinegar and jam.
The dining room has a substantial table which seats 14, and leads onto a large shaded terrace with a wooden table and chairs for outside dining.
The living room is comfortably furnished with sofas and armchairs and an open fireplace and French doors lead out onto a terrace.
On the 1st floor there are 2 bedrooms, 1 large and light double and 1 twin, each with their own outside access and en suite bathrooms. Also on this floor is a billiard room, an unusual feature which has proved extremely popular with our guests.
On the 2nd floor is the master suite, with a four poster bed and a separate study with space for an extra bed. The en suite bathroom in white marble is particularly luxurious, and has a huge walk in shower.
The remaining two rooms are in Mezzatorre, a separate building across the courtyard, with its own private shaded patio. There are 2 bedrooms, a double and a twin, both with outside access and their own living area with television and a small fridge. Both rooms have en suite bathrooms, and one is suitable for disabled access.
Steps lead down from the villa to the large swimming pool with Jacuzzi as well as a well maintained tennis court.
Casale de Lanci and Mezzatorre are sold as one property, but the main building may sometimes be rented on its own in low season.
