Fondo le Teglie
Fondo le Teglie lies about 12km from Todi in a wonderful position overlooking the rolling hills and green fields of Umbria. You will never tire of sitting out on the shaded loggia, the lovely courtyard or by the swimming pool, and gazing at the unsurpassable views surrounding you.
The property consists of a meticulously restored 17th century farmhouse and stables, sleeping up to 10 in the main house and a further 2 in the annexe. The property provides very spacious living areas both inside and outside, perfect for a group of friends to congregate in after a day’s sightseeing or indeed just relaxing by the pool. Outside in the courtyard there is a wooden dining table which seats 10 with a wood burning grill and pizza oven nearby.
Inside the living space is open plan, which gives a wonderful feeling of space to the living room, kitchen and dining area. The walls are white or taken back to the stone, and there are terracotta tiled floors and wooden beams, which, together with the mixture of antique pieces and comfortable sofas and chairs, and the open fireplace, give the area great character and style.
The kitchen is modern and very well equipped, with plenty of surface space for preparing delicious meals from local ingredients. There is a gas hob, 2 electric ovens, microwave and fridge/freezer, with a second smaller fridge and a dishwasher. The dining room has a lovely long wooden table and seats 8 comfortably, with a separate bar seating 4.
There is a separate study where you can read or check your emails on the high speed internet and a bathroom with bath and shower. On this floor there is also a fully equipped utility room with washer and dryer.
Upstairs, which can be reached by an internal or an external staircase, there is a common area for watching satellite TV and DVDs and a small loft which can sleep 2 children. The 4 bedrooms, 3 doubles and one twin, are all on this floor. Two have en suite bathrooms, one with shower and one with bath and shower. The other double and the twin share a bathroom. The bedrooms and bathrooms are luxurious, with extremely comfortable beds and top quality linens, towels and bathrobes. Toiletries are provided.
The annexe has a combined living and dining room with a galley kitchen, and a double bedroom with en suite bathroom with shower. It too has been carefully restored to reveal the stone walls of the original stables and has its own private garden as well as sharing the courtyard with the main villa.
Fondo le Teglie is an outstanding property in every way. Its unrivalled position and easy access to Todi, Assisi, Orvieto and Deruta, among others, make it a perfect base, but it is also perfect for staying put, as there are local shops and restaurants nearby. Susan Evans, the charming and helpful owner, will give you advice about every aspect of the area, and can also provide a local cook, cookery lessons and just about any other service you could ask for.
