Le Terrazze
Le Terrazze is a very attractive stone built casale with a separate cottage, originally forming part of a sixteenth century group of farm buildings grouped around a central stone paved piazza.
The owner, an English architect, has restored the buildings and created the gardens, while his wife, an Italian interior designer, is responsible for the interior, which has the warmth and welcome of a real home. Umbrian tradition has been followed throughout. The living areas and bedrooms are paved with hand made floor tiles and there are timber beams and open fireplaces.
The large L shaped sitting room opens on to a terrace and includes a small kitchenette as well as satellite TV and stereo. Double doors lead from the sitting room to the dining room and main kitchen which is fully equipped, including a microwave and dishwasher. There is also a separate laundry room.
The villa can accommodate up to ten people as there are 5 double/twin bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms. The master bedroom is on the first floor and opens onto a terrace which overlooks the lovely 12 x 6 metre swimming pool.
A gazebo with barbecue adjoins the large terrace, which is a perfect place for al fresco dining. Maid service is included in the cost, and it is also possible to arrange for a cook to shop, prepare and serve meals for guests. Holistic massage can be arranged at the house, and horse riding, tennis, cycling, and canoeing are all available nearby.
The owners provide a very helpful handbook with local information, and as they live next door, are on hand to provide any other information needed. Le Terrazze is only 7 kms from Todi, and Assisi, Spoleto, Perugia, Bevagna and Orvieto are all within 45 kms. It is therefore in a perfect position for exploring the most famous places in the region.
