Diplomats
For many years we have used tour operators to send couples and families to this well run and attractive complex of comfortable rooms and apartments overlooking the sea just 15 minutes walk from the village of Horto and we were delighted when Maria, the friendly and helpful manager, asked us to work with the hotel directly.

Just above the clear waters of the bay and the beach, where the restaurant and terrace bar are situated, bougainvillea-covered steps climb the hillside, past the large, freshwater pool and the little groups of apartments, reaching the car park and tennis court at the top. The restaurant serves simple fresh food throughout the day and evening.
Although notionally Diplomats is a hotel, we book the accommodation on a self-catering basis. The rooms are either studios or one bedroom apartments, all with simple kitchenettes, so rustling up a snack is always an option if desired.
The twenty-two studios and apartments are all quite individual in terms of size and layout as they descend down to the gulf, but all have wooden-beamed ceilings and wooden shutters and are pleasantly decorated in light colours. There are twelve studios and ten one bedroomed apartments. The apartments are twin or double bedded, with two extra divan beds in the lounge area so they are perfect for a couple with two younger children. There is also one two bedroom apartment which accommodate up to five.
The studios and apartments all have a balcony or terrace and with varying degrees of sea view. Diplomats has that ideal Greek setting overlooking the water, a pretty beach, swimming pool, tennis court, restaurant and bar and a village with seafront tavernas just down the road all of which make for the perfect, relaxing holiday.
