Babymoon to Barbados

Of all the Caribbean islands the one to which most of you want to return is Barbados. Ok, it has that sense of being a bit of ‘Little England’ but familiarity also breeds relaxation, especially when you are surrounded by archetypal lush vegetation and turquoise seas.

Whenever our regular clients ask for a recommended hotel in Barbados, Sandpiper Inn tends to be our choice. Family-run hotel and a member of Small Luxury Hotels, it seems to cater successfully for clients of all ages and has many guests coming back year after year. With a stylish, modern take on traditional Caribbean architecture, it is surrounded by swaying palms and tropical gardens with flowering bougainvillea adding colour to the buildings’ white walls.

There are 47 rooms and suites with wonderful views over the gardens, pool or Caribbean sea. The one and two bedroom suites have the added benefit of a separate living room with sofa and a kitchen, with the two bedroom Suites being the perfect choice for families. The Tree Top Suites are the premier accommodation with a large covered terrace and open sun deck with private pool and spectacular views, rivalling Sandpiper’s larger west coast neighbours in providing top luxury standards. The latest addition is a three bedroomed Beach House for villa rental.

The restaurant, open-sided to the Caribbean breeze, is surrounded by the landscaped gardens, flaming torches and Koi ponds, and has an enviable reputation as one of the best on the island.

There is excellent swimming from the beach reached through the gardens and the hotel makes the most of this perfect setting, offering complimentary water sports including water-skiing, and scuba diving. There are two floodlit tennis courts with complimentary pro-tuition and a gym.  You can laze on comfortable loungers by the mosaic-tiled, kidney-shaped swimming pool bordered by tall palm trees.

It is just a five minute walk to Holetown where there are shops and restaurants although you also have exchange dining with the Coral Reef Club, its larger sister hotel, where you can also use their luxury spa.

Annual hotel closure: 13 August to 12 October 2011 and 11 August - 10 October 2012.
Children: Are welcome throughout the year with the exception of 15 January - 15 March 2012 when children under 12 years are not catered for.

Prices from £1635 per person in low season to £2750 per person in high season, based on a garden room and flights with either British Airways or Virgin Atlantic.
