Big Game and Barefoot Luxury

Fly to the Kruger National Park, via Johannesburg, and spend at least three nights at a luxury private game lodge such as Vuyatela, located in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Access is by light aircraft, adding to the adventure, and your stay is inclusive of two game drives per day – one before breakfast then one in the late afternoon that becomes a night drive – and all meals. With just eight spacious suites privacy is assured and for romance you have intimate meals in your private lounge, getting cosy by the open fire, glass of wine in hand, and what can be more romantic than seeing the sun rise over the vast African horizon as you go off in search of the ‘Big Five’?

With wildlife hopefully ticked off it is time to head to the isolated beaches of Mozambique. As a destination it has long been stuck in isolation but recently more and more visitors are discovering its miles of sandy beaches, vibrant coral reefs and collection of small luxury lodges, on practically uninhabited islands. You have the choice of two archipelagos, Bazaruto in the South or the Quirimbas in the far north. Both offer a similar mix of white sand beaches and beautiful marine life but if it is romance you are after then it is hard to look beyond Benguerra Lodge, in the Bazaruto Archipelago. Stay in one of the Casitas which are located directly on the beach and are complete with a private plunge pool, roll top bath and outdoor shower. An open air private dining area for those starlit dinners completes the romantic picture.

In two weeks you would have enough time to enjoy the above combination but if you are fortunate to have more time then consider adding in a stay in Cape Town to give you what I would consider the perfect blend for any trip –  exciting city, adventure and ultimate beach!
