Riad El Fenn, Marrakech
This 21 room luxurious riad in the Marrakech Medina has received glowing reviews from our clients.
It is perfectly situated, only 20 minutes from the airport and 5 minutes from the centre of Marrakech, and has been meticulously restored. Inside, as well as every facility, there are wonderful pictures from part-owner Vanessa Branson’s personal collection by artists such as Bridget Riley and Anthony Gormley, and the spacious bedrooms and suites are decorated in rich, vibrant colours, and beautifully furnished.
There is a heated marble pool with two further small pools. There are several courtyards, and half the charm of the riad is its maze-like lay out with balconies and corners to sit in and claim as your private space. Two of these are filled with greenery – with trees and trailing plants and fountains creating even more of a sense of seclusion and romance.
The roof, where breakfast is served, is lovely, with its own ankle-deep pool, and again there are different areas for lying around, or eating on a covered terrace - and spectacular views of the Atlas mountains. Recline on the cushions of lie down on the day beds.
The food is wonderful - porridge and honey for breakfast especially, yogurts, fruit, good bread, and excellent lunches (including delicious salads) can be taken in the shade.
And special note from our last guest there – ‘the soap is fabulous. Rose petals from the foot of the Atlas mountains’. Just part of what makes this the perfect place in which to relax and enjoy the city.
