La Fuente de la Higuera
Just a few kilometres north of the attractive town of Ronda with its famous gorge and stunning views is this very thoughtfully converted former olive mill dating from the 18th century.
La Fuente de la Higuera's Dutch owners Pom and Tina Piek have successfully blended traditional Andalucian architecture with a more contemporary and understated interior. At the same time, they and their staff offer a warm welcome with unobtrusively good service.
From a total of eleven rooms, there are three standard doubles, two junior suites, three suites, two deluxe suites and a double suite. Families can also be catered for with two rooms, each with their own entrance and a common hallway. In addition, there is a stunning double suite on two floors, complete with spiral staircase up to a second bedroom area with 360-degree views over the surrounding rolling hills.
All the rooms are individually decorated with wooden floors, rugs, stylish furniture and original modern art. The bathrooms are fitted to a high standard complete with all important power showers and white towels. In winter it is possible to snuggle up by an open fire in each of the suites while all rooms have a private outside terrace or garden. Apart from lazing by the hotel's pool, guests can enjoy many local walks, horse-riding or even ballooning nearby.
The beautiful pueblos blancos of Benaojan and Montejaque are just a few minutes away by car while Seville and the Mediterranean beaches are reachable in just under an hour. As far as food is concerned, fine modern European dining with a good selection of wines is available in a relaxed environment while there is a great range of restaurants in nearby Ronda
