After a few days exploring the charming state capital of Perth, perhaps taking in a bike ride around car-free Rottnest Island or visiting some of the suburban beaches, you can hop in the car and head south along the coast to the home of boutique wineries, giant eucalyptus trees and deserted Indian Ocean beaches.
Alternatively, brave the long drive north to be rewarded by the scenic gorges of Kalbarri National Park and the fantastic snorkelling at Exmouth and Coral Bay. Visit between April and July for your chance to swim with a whale shark! Further north the adventure really kicks in with the vast Kimberley region with its ancient landscapes along the Gibb River Road crying out to be explored. Deserted creeks and gorges, rugged ranges and a spectacular coastline make this a unique mix of seclusion and majestic scenery.
