Borneo Delights

Split between Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei, Borneo is known for its rich biodiversity with a wilderness of ancient rainforests and mountain ranges. But there is also a wealth of tribal culture, sublime tropical islands and world class diving.

Top of the list for most on a visit to Borneo is the elusive orang utan. Spot him along with pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, hornbills and a host of other wildlife on the Kinabatangan River. For the more adventurous, take up the challenge of climbing Mt Kinabalu for the remarkable view from the summit as the sun rises over the South China Sea. On the climb down you will have more time and enthusiasm to admire the flora of this diverse national park.

To ease those aching limbs post-climb, unwind on one of the outlying islands. More rustic retreat than barefoot luxury, spend your days snorkelling or diving with a multitude of sea life including turtles and reef sharks before tucking in to a hearty meal with fellow guests.
