Il Convento
Il Convento is a beautiful 10th century Umbrian building situated near the village of Mantignana, 18km from Perugia and 14km from Lake Trasimeno.
It was originally a fortress and has been beautifully restored by its present owners. It now consists of 10 apartments, 3 of which we are featuring, sleeping from 4 to 6 people.
The apartments are spacious and furnished simply but comfortably, in typical Umbrian style. Each apartment has its own outside area where you can eat your meals surrounded by views of the wonderful Umbrian countryside.
There is a large and attractive swimming pool and a tennis court. The grounds are extensive and even in high season it is possible to find complete peace and quiet. There is a restaurant on site serving typical Umbrian food which is open in the evenings except Sundays and not in August. Il Convento is only 400m from Mantignana, where there are shops for basic requirements. There is an excellent restaurant in Corciano, a few kilometres away, and other less expensive pizzerias within easy reach.
Il Covento has the advantage of being close to good local bus routes and it is therefore possible to stay there without a car. Older children can go independently into Perugia or to Lake Trasimeno while their parents visit Assisi, which is only 43km away.
La Torre - sleeps 4
This is an unusual apartment on three levels with steep stairs. On the ground floor there is a living room, kitchen, and a twin bedded room. On the first floor there is a bathroom with a bath and on the second floor a double bedroom.
Il Fienile 1 - sleeps 4
This is an attractive apartment in the converted hay barn near the main building. It has a living room, kitchen, a double bedroom, a small room with bunk beds and a bathroom with a bath. The apartment has a very pretty private terrace.
La Colombaia - sleeps 6-8
This is a spacious ground floor apartment with a living room, kitchen, 2 double bedrooms, a bathroom with a bath, staircase to a loft with a twin bedded room and a bathroom with a shower. There are 2 extra beds in the living room and an attractive terrace.
