La Torricella
Its spectacular position in the Umbrian countryside with views across to Todi, and the exceptional level of comfort, are two of the reasons why La Toricella has become a firm favourite with our recent guests.
This entirely stone built villa is set in beautiful landscaped gardens, with a variety of flower beds and rose gardens, an impressive avenue of cypress trees and lavender. Michael Blampied, the English owner, and Gabriella, his Italian wife, have put a lot of thought into the villa and their attention to detail has created the warmth and welcome of a real home.
The villa has 5 bedrooms. There are 3 en suite twin/double bedrooms, 1 with a four poster bed and 2 with direct access to a terrace. The remaining 2 twin rooms are in the tower and they share a bathroom. The rooms are all light and spacious and attractively furnished. The fabrics are mainly white and beige, providing a vivid contrast with the hand made terracotta pavings, dark wood furniture and timber beamed ceilings in the Umbrian tradition.
The villa sleeps 10 comfortably and because the living and outside seating areas are so spacious, there is never any feeling of overcrowding. The airy lounge is equipped with every convenience to make your stay more pleasurable. The two wisteria covered terraces are ideal for outdoor dining, and the extensive gardens provide plenty of quiet places to sit.
The oak beamed kitchen is fully equipped with gas hob, electric oven, microwave and dishwasher and there is a choice of both an indoor and outdoor barbeque. With prior notice it is also possible to arrange for a cook service, which is paid for locally. The large swimming pool has been positioned in order to make the most of superb views over the countryside. The owners have provided a very helpful handbook with advice on local shopping, eating out, entertainment and information on all the summer fairs which take place in Umbria. It also contains information on additional activities which are on offer in the area, such as horse riding and holisitic massages.
La Torricella is in a wonderful position for visiting the towns of Umbria. Todi is under 4km away, Bevagna, Montefalco and Perugia are within 35km and Orvieto and Assisi a short distance further.
