If it's country road rather than mountain biking that appeals, our new Ancient Olympia and Nemea wine route is for you! Terrain is non technical and is on road. The rugged interior of the Peloponnese is mountainous and those attempting this east to west crossing of southern Greece should expect some stiff climbs, but will be rewarded with spectacular descents.
The region of Nemea, on the Greek Peloponesse, is amongst the worlds oldest wine growing regions. Located at an altitude of 600 metres, you stay at the "domaine Helios" vineyards for the first part of the trip, using it as the base to explore the nearby theatre of Epidavros, the old provincial capital of Nauplion and ancient Mycaene. As well as visiting these spectacular sights, there will be lots of time for enjoying the superb local wines, both red and white, for which the Nemea wine region is renowned. After your free day, you forge eastward, crossing the wild mountainuous spine of Southern Greece, to ancient Olympia, site of the ancient Olympic Games. Close by are the tranquil waters of the Kiparissiakos Gulf, where you can swim and relax at the end of the trip. The itinerary will be as follows:-
