Domaine du Puis es Prats
This former Napoleon III chateau has been transformed into a collection of delightful self-catering cottages and luxury bed and breakfast accommodation.
This historic Domaine is nestled in the wine growing region of the Minervois in the sun drenched region of Languedoc.
Domaine du Puis es Prats, which translates as "wells and marshes", is located in the village of Ginestas, 16km north-west of Narbonne, close to the famous Canal du Midi, and surrounded by rolling countryside. It is easy to unwind and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere created by English owners Tim and Sasha before venturing out to explore this fascinating region. Ginestas lies between the beautiful Montagne Noir and the Mediterranean coast, with its many sandy beaches, east of the medieval city of Carcassonne and just north of the region of Corbieres, an area of rugged beauty and seemingly impregnable Cathar fortresses.
The accommodation is set in within four acres of gardens and consists of five self catering cottages within the grounds and five bedrooms in the main chateau. Of the five elegantly decorated chateau bedrooms four are ensuite and the fifth has a private bathroom across the hall. The two large family rooms look out onto rolling vineyards and are adjacent to a twin bedded room that is ideal for two children.
Like the bedrooms in the chateau, the self catering accommodation is finished to a high standard and is suitable for couples, families or groups of friends.
All the accommodations benefit from the excellent shared facilities which include a large heated swimming pool, table tennis, a trampoline and badminton and bicycles (local charge). There is also an excellent table d'hote restaurant on site where all guests can enjoy breakfast or 3 course evening meal. Other activities that can be organised locally include boating on the Canal du Midi, horse riding, canoeing and tennis. For those that are looking to learn more about the area Sasha and Tim offer a variety of courses and tours including photography, cooking and wine tasting.
Chateau Suite
This apartment is on the ground floor of the main chateau facing the courtyard and the back garden. The kitchen /living area has its own doors leading out to the garden where you have your own barbecue and outside eating area. The double bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and there is a mezzanine area that will comfortably sleep two children.
Regisseur's 1 and 2
These two terraced cottages are one of two original workers cottages situated on the courtyard and have two and one bedrooms respectively. They can be let as two self contained cottages or, as they interconnect, a group of six can rent both together as a three bedroomed property. Both cottages open out to their own barbecue and seating area and have their own kitchen / living area.
Chauffeur's Cottage
Adjoining Regisseur's the Chauffeur's cottage is a 2 bedroom property that is ideal for couples or a family of four. As with the other cottages there is an open plan kitchen / living area and has its own patio and barbecue area.
Monet's House
The Monet House is an independent cottage located away from the Chateau in the main garden and is a charming 2 bedroom property. The house has a sitting room that opens onto the garden and a separate kitchen / dining area. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms.
