Through the eyes of the Maya
Yucatán, Mexico
Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula sits in the northeast of the country at the confluence of both the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. Filled with natural beauty, awe-inspiring Maya ruins cloaked in jungle and wrapped by white-sand beaches, there’s lots for families to discover and explore together.
Younger travellers are often drawn to the Yucatan’s intriguing Maya history and culture. As well as visiting the sites of Chichen Itza and Tulum’s beachside ruins, Uxmal (located between Campeche and Merida) has a mesmerising light show that brings the mysticism of the Maya structures to life. Like chocolate? At the Choco Story Museum in Uxmal, learn about the bean to bar process and why cocoa was integral to Maya livelihoods. Over on the Riviera Maya, families can lap up beach time on gorgeous Caribbean sands, before heading inland to discover cenotes (cave-like underwater pools) for intrepid snorkelling and swimming. Stop by the pastel hued waters of Las Coloradas, dotted with flamingos. Make time to experience Mexico’s zingy cuisine on a cookery class or simply with a toes-in-the-sand taco feast.

City Highs & Natural Wonders
Brazil
The biggest country in Latin America, Brazil’s wonders are endless, offering a vast variety of adventure and exploration for families including buzzy cities, countless beaches and an array of natural diversity that includes the Amazon. The only trouble will be deciding what to do!
We suggest a trip that allows for maximum immersion into Brazil’s beauty, starting with a trip to the Amazon, staying at an eco-lodge where you can trek the forests and canoe the river – spotting rare creatures like sloth, toucans and monkeys. No trip to Brazil is complete without visiting vibrant Rio and its iconic beaches Copacabana and Ipanema where Rio residents come out to play. Riding the cable car up Sugarloaf Mountain for fabulous views and visiting the dominating Christ the Redeemer statue is also a must. For more wildlife experience, head to the tropical wetlands known as the Pantanal to glimpse jaguars, caimans and the cute capybara.
