Laguna Coast, Naxos
A step away from traditional Cycladic architecture on one of Real Holidays’ favourite islands – Naxos – this new regeneration project promises an authentic eco-tourism resort located on a wild lagoon on the west shore, yet just a mile from Naxos Town. Not only is the area a hotbed of biodiversity from flamingos to cedar forests and wetlands, it is also one of the oldest known settlements in the Central Aegean with findings from Palaeolithic humans and Neanderthals. The resort itself is made up of 21 rooms with an emphasis on sustainable and biophilic design. Natural materials in pared-back hues headline the interiors and some come with sea views, Jacuzzis or private pools.
Must Do
Between the sea, lagoon and the mountain, there’s plenty to occupy nature-lovers from snorkelling and diving in the ancient harbour, hiking through the cedar forest and sailing the Aegean to explore the wild islet of Manto. Or simply feel the energy of a place where Neanderthals once walked.

Uga Halloowella, Hatton
New from the Uga portfolio – a hotel brand that we’ve come to associate with a high standard of hospitality – Uga Halloowella is a tea plantation property set in the hills of Hatton, overlooking sweeping scenic views of the Castlereagh Reservoir. A peaceful place from which to explore Sri Lanka’s iconic tea estate culture and verdant beauty, Uga Halloowella is a refined and elegant restoration, with just six suites. Each is beautifully furnished, characterised by old-world charm with a mix of antiques, four-poster beds, claw-footed tubs and views on rolling lawns. Outside a stroll through manicured gardens leads to an infinity pool for cooling dips and the perfect spot for afternoon tea with a Sri Lankan twist.
Must Do
Although Uga Halloowella makes it very easy to relax and recharge, surrounded by blissful views, it’s certainly worth exploring the area. Cradled by neat rows of glossy shrubs, discover tea factories and learn about the leaf-to-brew process. Nearby is the newly opened Pekoe Trail which links old tea plantation pathways together for hiking; the glassy waters of Castlereagh Reservoir are ideal for a gentle kayak.

Must Do
With just a short walk to the ski lift, both skiing and snowboarding on the vast Espace Killy ski resort is very much on the agenda, and you can also enjoy snowshoeing and ski touring.
