  • 2 week trip around Costa Rica taking in the capital San José, the incredible wildlife, natural parks and kilometres of beautiful beach.

    Day 1

    Upon arrival in San José you are met and transferred to your hotel. 

    Overnight: San José

    Day 2

    Journey through lush coffee cultivation regions then cloud forest to enjoy a tour of nearby Poás Volcano. Walk to the crater’s lip to peer down onto the hot aquamarine lake below. Return to San José to explore the lavish National Theatre and underground Pre-Columbian Gold Museum.

    Overnight: San José

    Day 3-4

    Transfer by road and boat to Tortuguero National Park, on the Caribbean coast, where you stay for 2 nights. All meals and daily wildlife safaris with the lodge’s naturalist are included, with the possibility to view a plethora of wildlife such as iguanas, white-faced monkeys and black river turtles. There may also be a chance of seeing the rarer species such as the great green macaw and boat billed herons. You will also have an opportunity to visit Tortuguero village and the local beach, where your guide will explain the history and habitat of the area.

    Overnight: Tortuguero National Park

    Day 5-6

    This morning you return to San José and pick up your 4x4 car before heading north to the Arenal Volcano region. Here you can visit the hot springs and nearby La Fortuna waterfall, go hiking or mountain biking and you may see lava flowing forth from the volcano in the evenings. You can also take a group excursion to the Arenal hanging Bridges with a naturalist guide. The hanging bridges is a system of trails and suspended walkways through the forest where you can enjoy beautiful views from the forest canopy and view a variety of birdlife as well as howler monkeys.

    Overnight: Arenal 

    Day 7-8

    Transfer by boat across Lake Arenal and then continue up into the mountains of Monteverde. There are guided nature walks into the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and a ‘Sky Walk’ along a network of 7 high suspension bridges and trails with fascinating opportunities to see the forest at different levels.

    Overnight: Monteverde

    Day 9

    Drive down from the mountains to Manuel Antonio National Park on the mid-Pacific coast, and stay on one of the nearby beaches for the next few nights.

    Day 10-12

    See some of Costa Rica’s most beautiful scenery along a series of headlands where the breakers wash up to the rainforest which teems with sloths, iguanas, monkeys and parrots. You will have time to hike, enjoy the beaches as well as rafting or kayaking opportunities for the more active.

    Overnight: Manuel Antonio

    Day 13

    Return to San José for your return flight.
