Day 1-7
Beachy Bliss at Ocho Rios
For the first part of your Jamaican odyssey, head to the north shore to relax in style at a classic Jamaican hotel while spending time exploring this nature-filled part of the island which also benefits from sublime Caribbean beaches.
Once a fishing village, Ocho Rios is a coastal hub that’s an easy jumping off point to active experiences inland and on water. Not to be missed are Dunn’s River Falls – a set of waterfalls that flow over smooth rock terraces, which you can climb up or swim in its turquoise pools. Inland are jungle-shrouded hikes and zip lining for thrill-seekers and the Green Grotto Caves are an intriguing underground labyrinth to uncover.
Stay
Jamaica Inn
One of Jamaica’s most iconic hotels, Jamaica Inn is imbued with a sense of old-world charm, where excellent service prevails and your surroundings are classic and extremely comfortable. It also opens out onto a sweeping beach – one of Jamaica’s finest and the perfect spot for relaxation with a rum punch in hand.
Stay
The Caves Hotel
Seemingly hewn from the limestone cliffs it sits atop, The Caves Hotel has amazing sea views and a laid-back ambience which makes it easy to love. With just 12 cottages, this is an all-inclusive but curated carefully with the individual in mind. Colourful cottages have gardens and ocean panoramas, and the candle-lit caves make for atmospheric private dining.
Day 14-17
Cool Breezes in the Blue Mountains
Time for another change as you hit the road, this time heading along the southern routes of the island for three hours before ascending into the verdant folds of the mist-clad Blue Mountains, Jamaica’s largest range.
Enveloped by nature, the Blue Mountains sit above Kingston, but a world away in its surrounds. A cool temperate climate greets you and hiking pathways give you a chance to connect with the beauty of the forested hills, coffee plantations and carpets of orchids and tropical flowers. Trek to Cinchona Botanical Gardens to be rewarded with a view over Strawberry Hill. After a few days, you will begin your journey home, driving to Kingston airport to board your flight and bid farewell to Jamaica.
Stay
Strawberry Hill Hotel
Peaceful and poised, Strawberry Hill Hotel has lofty views yet a wholly laid-back atmosphere where you can check out of life’s treadmill, if only for a few days. Clasped in verdant greenery, the standalone cottages are private and comfortable and the hotel’s spa, cradled into the mountainside will send you to bliss and back with botanical massages and deep tissue treatments.
