Who For

Children over 12 and adults, plus true nature lovers will get the best out of this safari. Number of nights at each camp can be tailor-made to your exact requirements, the options below are purely a suggestion.

When To Go

The best time for a walking safari in Zambia is generally during the dry season, from May to October. Though October will be increasingly hot.

Travel Made Positive

The camps we’ve chosen for this trip are deliberately pared-back with no frills or air-con, allowing you to connect more sustainably to the pristine landscapes of Luangwa.

Day 4-7

Kapamba Camp

Rise early to get the best of the day and be treated to a surprise bush brunch as you journey by 4WD to your next camp, relishing in these moments completely in the wild. After two hours, arrive at the peaceful Kapamba Camp and be welcomed to a collection of stone chalets scattered along the Kapamba River in the shade of matumi trees. Rustic in style yet designed with chic African accents, the four chalets are comfortable and benefit from shutters that open wide to riverside views. A small raised sala offers a sleep-out deck for those that want further immersion into the sights and sounds of the river by night. The camp also has a small pool for cooling off.

Mornings and evenings are premium opportunities for game walks along the river to spy a range of wildlife from splashing hippos to carmine bee-eaters on the sand banks. Into the plains and shady forest, seek out Luangwa’s endemic species including the Thornicroft Giraffe, Cookson’s wildebeest and Crawshay’s zebra. Come afternoon, cover ground in a Land Rover to track wild dogs hunting in a pack or enjoy a more unusual sundowner, Luangwa style, with your toes in the river and a gin and tonic in hand.

With just four open-fronted chalets, Kapamba Camp offers a unique blend of rustic charm and understated luxury, making it an ideal destination for guests seeking a true bush experience.
