Entry into Nature

Take a connecting flight from San José right into the heart of the verdant nature at Aguila de Osa in 28-acres of privately protected rainforest. With a shoreside location, the hotel is made up of wooden casitas cradled in a jungly hillside. Fanning out from the hotel are a network of rivers, edged by mangroves and the calm waters of Drake Bay. Wild and remote, Aguila de Osa is the gateway to discovery in this tourist-free part of the Osa Peninsula.

Everyday Activities

Nature forms the core of your experience, and there’s a choice of on land, sea or river. Local guides can take you deep into the forest for a full day’s exploring where a wealth of wildlife awaits from the colourful butterfly to the furry sloth. All four of Costa Rica’s monkeys reside here too – scampering in the trees might indicate that a Central American squirrel monkey, white-faced capuchin, mantled howler or Geoffroy’s spider monkey is nearby. Your hike might also take you to the San Pedrillo waterfall for a cooling dip. Out at sea, scuba diving and snorkelling reveal the ocean’s marine treasures including manta rays, turtles and whale sharks in season. Kayaking in the mangroves is a tranquil way to explore these biodiversity hotspots or you can horse ride on the wild, empty beaches.
