    The lowdown

    • Combine With

A stay at Jashita is the ideal finish to a trip exploring the Yucatan's colonial cities and ancient Mayan sites like Uxmal and Chichen Itza.

    • Need to Know

The ground floor rooms can be overlooked, request a high floor for the best sea views.

    • Insider Tip

It's a short stroll down the bay to local hotspot Chamico's, which serves up generous plates of the freshest ceviche you'll ever taste.

Just steps from the Caribbean Sea, days can be spent snorkelling the fish-teeming reef, cooling off in the infinity pool or dozing in a hammock beneath the coconut palms with a margarita in hand.

There are just 27 spacious suites, each decorated in soothing neutral tones with stylish wooden furniture and four-poster beds. Outside you’ll find a huge terrace with your own private plunge pool from which you can gaze out over the aquamarine waters. If you’re on honeymoon or looking for extra privacy, opt for the sensational Nerfertiti Suite which has its own private hot tub that looks out over the Caribbean.

You can borrow paddleboards, canoes and snorkelling gear free of charge and there’s a trio of beautiful infinity pools (one for children) to stretch out beside. If life in paradise gets too tough, head to the rooftop spa for a signature massage overlooking the lagoon.

The beachfront restaurant offers alfresco dining with a sea view, with an emphasis on fresh seafood, Mexican and Italian cuisine – a nod to the hotel’s Venetian owners. Be sure to try the grilled lobster.

Should you wish to explore, there’s plenty to do nearby. Take a trip to the marshes and mangroves of the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, a spectacular setting for birding. Swim in one of the many hidden cenotes. Go deep sea fishing for sailfish and marlin. And it’s just 20 minutes in a taxi to bohemian Tulum, where you can wander the ancient Mayan ruins and dine in superb restaurants.

“Jashita is a little piece of paradise. Excellent service, stunning rooms, great restaurant, wonderful pools – it’s the perfect small hotel for a beach getaway. We’d go back again in a heartbeat.”  Jonathan – Real Holidays customer
