Our View

Whitewashed inside and out and topped with terracotta tiles, Monte da Palmeira is tastefully styled around original features; outside a pool shimmers invitingly in a lush garden filled with native verdancy.

An authentic Algarve farmhouse, Monte da Palmeira offers a stylish respite from the region’s popularity and a peaceful place to gather as a group, with plenty of space inside and out, secret garden spots, poolside glamour and an on-call chef to conjure rainbow-hued salads and grilled fish.

Peaceful Portuguese Hideaway

The villa’s inland location gives Monte da Palmeira a tranquil seclusion in this popular Portuguese hotspot. Here, you’re enclosed by nature and just-tamed gardens overflowing with flowers, gnarled cork trees and spiky cypress trees. Add to the mix spacious, airy bedrooms, rustic-chic interiors replete with natural materials and plenty of outdoor leafy dining and relaxing spaces (and a chef for when the moment calls), Monte da Palmeira allows you to simply be. If you want to wander into the wilderness, chef can pack a picnic for you. Nearby, authentic towns await to discover pottery workshops and olive oil producers and less than half an hour brings you the blindingly white and largely deserted beaches of Rio Formosa; a natural enclave where oysters are grown. Fishing villages dot the shoreline alongside low-key seafood spots for just-plucked shellfish. Encircled by life-affirming nature, Monte da Palmeira is the feel-good farmhouse you won’t want to leave.
