Twenty years and counting for me at Real Holidays! I’ve been here a long time, and I’ve seen many changes in travel destinations, hotels and how we holiday but what has always stayed consistent is the foundation of Real Holidays. Knowledge, service and listening to our clients’ needs over the years have given us a loyal base and attracted new customers from all over the UK and abroad.

My family are spread out all over the world, so I use travel as a chance to catch up with my nearest and dearest while soaking up local culture. Instead of welcoming family to London I prefer to visit them in the States, Jamaica and the Caribbean – who wouldn’t! Instead of big hotels I like to stay in smaller places, where there’s opportunity for local interaction. I’m particularly drawn to the warm people and amazing food of Jamaica – there’s a reason I’ve been going there since 1976!

Sacha's favourite cultural spots

I like the destinations I visit to have a real local vibe, be it a festival, carnival or market. Here are my favourite places for soaking up the buzz.

  • Atlanta, Georgia, USA

My favourite and most memorable holiday was to Atlanta, Georgia with my best girlfriends. We listened to jazz and spoken word poetry on a hot day and enjoyed the warm welcome of traditional southern hospitality.

Nightlife is relaxed, bars spill out onto the streets for a chilled carnival vibe. The cuisine is classic soul food – fried chicken, mac n cheese and cornbread.

  • Rotterdam – Carnival

The Rotterdam carnival is firmly on my annual calendar. The festival is a mixture of Notting Hill meets Rio with every nationality represented in amazingly colourful costumes.

I always start the day with some fuelling carnival food before dancing the night away! I fly from City Airport – so quick and easy and feels like a much more civilised way to travel.

  • Morocco

Morocco was a fascinatingly diverse trip. I stayed in Palmerie, a quieter district away from the bustle of Marrakech, although we loved evenings in the buzzy Jemaa el-Fnaa square. I found out I’m pretty good at bartering in the souk!

We also heading out on a 4×4 trip to the Atlas Mountains for dizzying views and an interesting visit a Berber village to see how they lived.  I also recommend experiencing the hammam – I was scrubbed, polished and massaged with Argan Oil and came out soft as butter and just so relaxed.

If Sacha won the lottery....

New Zealand fly drive with first class flights followed by a lazy week in Bora Bora in a water bungalow with my partner and my own butler of course!
