Why Choose Patmos?
Our Director, Matt, recently explored the charming island of Patmos, declaring it an untouched paradise amongst the Dodecanese Islands, and perfect for those seeking an authentic glance into Greek culture and island-hopping adventures.
Otherwise known as the ‘Jerusalem of the Aegean’, the island is richly sprinkled with monasteries, white-washed villages, quiet golden beaches, family-run hotels and gastronomic pleasures to delight every kind of traveller.
History of
Patmos
With roots in ancient mythology and a legacy shaped by Roman exile and early Christianity, Patmos is a place where history and spirituality intertwine. Often called the “Island of the Apocalypse,” it is most famous as the place where Saint John was sent in 95 AD and where he is said to have written the Book of Revelation.
What was once intended as punishment became a moment of profound significance, transforming the island into one of Christianity’s most important pilgrimage sites. Recognising this, Greece declared Patmos a “Sacred Island” in 1981, and UNESCO later inscribed its key landmarks as World Heritage sites.

WHERE TO STAY
PATMOS EYE
For a stylish and characterful stay on Patmos, our preferred choice is Patmos Eye. Just a short walk from the port town of Skala, the hotel offers a range of rooms, suites and villas, many with private balconies, plunge pools or panoramic sea views, blending homely comfort with contemporary design. Guests can enjoy à la carte breakfast delivered to their door, while the intimate Tiny Restaurant serves dishes made from fresh, local ingredients.
The Pink Veranda provides a picturesque setting for sunset drinks, and the villas include private pools and hammams for a more indulgent escape. Practical services such as car hire, private excursions, room service, concierge support and spa treatments make it an effortless base for exploring the island, while the gentle passage of ferries through the harbour adds an authentic sense of Patmos’ rhythm and atmosphere.
